IN THE IMAGE OF

A Dialogue between belief, emotion, technology and creation.

ASCII_ART

In my research, I've chosen to focus on ASCII code language, specifically ASCII ART. I was amazed by the concept of using something as simple as letters and code to create art.

I'm always fascinated by the way how we, as designers and artists, can use technology to elevate our projects and use it as another tool to express ourselves.

In an age where we fear technology and see it as a threat to our careers, we need to learn how to adapt and control it to our advantage.

Digital_Love

How to say I LOVE YOU using ASCII language.

I've decided to indulge with elements from the Rococo and the Baroque art movements, those movements were also present in the catholic world and are associated with it.

During the design process, my goal was to create a modern, digital tribute to those classic movements, and create the feel of a modern, ASCII romantic church.

Reverse_ASCII

After experimenting with the basics of ASCII ART elements, I've continued my research and thought about a way that I can deconstruct and twist the principles of ASCII ART.

That research led to a new project: a creative tool coded in Processing. It lets users load any PNG image, which is resized and transformed into a dynamic, pulsing mosaic grid. Each pixel becomes a tinted miniature image tile that reacts to time and mouse movement, creating an interactive, breathing visual effect.

9_ASCII_SQUARES

A Motion graphics experiment, exploring how ASCII characters behave in motion.

IN_THE_IMAGE_OF

An interactive installation about religion, technology, creation and humanity.

In the bible, creation is considered a godly act, something divine that god have control over, and that to create something we also need to have a strong faith in it.

That idea can be easily translated into how we perceive technology, we put our blind faith in it daily, just like how religious people put their trust in the hands of god.

But unlike religion, where believers don't have an direct impact on what they believe in, with technology, we can directly manipulate it, touch it, change it, create it.

So, by that logic, the idea behind my installation is that we are our own "technological gods", made in the image of ourselves, we can use technology to change and impact our lives, technology and innovation is what's truly drives the human race ahead, its manifestation of the human will to be better, to change, to make an impact and create comfortable life.

I've chosen to display my work on an old, CRT TV, stack-pilled on a bunch of old DVDs and audio systems, proving that even old and obsolete technology still has a place in our world, a statement that technology isn't bound by time, even when humanity moves forward from it
